The best part about Super Bowl Sunday is getting together with friends and enjoying game day tasty morsels. There’s plenty of healthy and lightened  food recipes out there that are flavorful to boot and just as good as their original counterparts. Here are some of my favorite lightened recipes for game day that are low in saturated fat, low in carbohydrates and low in points.

For my Super Bowl party spread, I like to include a hot and cold dip, a soup, a few sandwiches or main dish, a side or two and of course a couple of desserts. Everything in moderation is my motto. I aim for a taste of this and a taste of that as I catch up with friends.

Dips

Dips are a mainstay on my party buffets. They can be served along with a tray of your favorite raw veggies such as baby carrots, celery sticks, bell pepper rings and a basket of crackers or good thins. An of course you can make make tortilla chips from low carb tortillas in an air fryer. Here are some of my favorite recipes.

Sandwiches, etc.

Who doesn’t love a good sandwich or burger? You can choose a couple of your favorites and make them full size, cut them into thirds or quarters and make sandwich platters. And of course, any burger can easily be made smaller and slapped on a slider bun. Watching your carb intake, then ditch the rolls and roll the burger meat into meatballs. Meatballs with a dipping sauce is a winner.

Buffalo Chicken Burgers & Sliders
These Buffalo chicken burgers are flavorful and easy to make. The chopped onion and celery keeps them moist and the Buffalo wing seasoning gives them a nice punch. They work as full side burgers or smaller sliders. If you make meatballs from the meat mixture, you can serve them with a dipping sauce made from plain non fat yogurt and Bolthouse Farms blue cheese dressing.

Italian Turkey Sausage Burgers
An Italian turkey sausage burger with grilled onions, marinara and melted provolone that is reminiscent of one I had growing up. They can easily be sized down and served as sliders. Meatballs made from the burger mixture can be served along with a small bowl of your favorite marinara for dipping.

My Mediterranean burgers are seasoned with garlic, dill, and oregano. Addition of salty fat free feta and chopped roasted red peppers finishes to push them over the top. Full sized burgers can be cut into quarters and added to platters or they can be made as sliders. If you go the meatball route, serve then with some homemade tzatziki for dippings.

Sloppy Giuseppes are the Italian cousin of traditional sloppy joes. Pile some saucy Italian meatball crumbles on a hoagie roll along with some mozzarella or provolone and pop it under a broiler until the cheese is melted. Parfaits 3 Ways: Banana Cream, Coconut Cream, Vanilla Cream
These parfaits are made with vanilla pudding and a vanilla wafer for all three varieties. For the banana cream parfait, banana slices are layered in with the pudding. Flaked coconut was mixed into the pudding for the coconut cream parfait. Vanilla pudding was layered over the vanilla wafer for the plain parfait. Party stores have smaller serving size cups that are perfect for buffets.
