Buffalo blue cheese dip packs a punch with a zip of Buffalo wing sauce and a tang of blue cheese in every bite. It pairs well with baby carrots and celery sticks and other veggies. It’s one of the dips I always have in the frig that I can pull out for my afternoon snack along with some veggies.

It’s a versatile dip. Buffalo blue cheese dip is great with various dippers and can be served as an appetizer or snack. This dip is a great addition to a tailgate party, barbecue, game day eats and the list goes on.

I have used this dip as a condiment on Buffalo chicken sliders, regular burgers and with Buffalo wings. This dip is great warmed and is great as a sauce in casserole and pasta dishes. Give it a try and don’t be afraid to experiment with it.

Ingredient Round Up

  • Plain non-fat yogurt
  • Bolthouse Farms blue cheese dressing
  • Your favorite wing sauce – I used Frank’s wing sauce.

Making the Dip

  • Place the plain non-fat yogurt in a coffee lined strainer set inside of a bowl over night allowing the whey to drain off and the yogurt to thicken.

  • Place the thickened yogurt into a mixing bowl. Add the blue cheese dressing and wing sauce.

  • Mix to combine all the ingredients. Taste and add more wing sauce to suit your taste.

  • Transfer to a serving bowl and enjoy with fresh veggies, good thins or your favorite crackers. Refrigerate leftovers in a plastic container.

Serving Ideas

  • Buffalo blue cheese dip can be served as an appetizer at get togethers, tailgate parties, holiday parties, on game day and the list goes on.
  • You can pair this dip with fresh raw veggies such as carrot and celery sticks, strips of bell pepper, or broccoli and cauliflower florets,
  • Others dippers such as good thins or your favorite crackers, pretzels, chips or chunks of french bread work well with this dip.
  • This dip can be used as a condiment with buffalo chicken burgers, french fries or onion rings.
  • A dedicated batch of this dip can be heated and tossed with pasta and chicken creating a main dish.

Buffalo Blue Cheese Dip

Prep Time: 10 minutes
Thicken the Yogurt: 8 hours
Total Time: 8 hours 10 minutes

Equipment

  • strainer
  • coffee filter
  • bowl for strainer
  • mixing bowl
  • measuring cup and spoons
  • spatula and wooden spoon

Ingredients

  • 1 c plain non-fat yogurt
  • tbsp Bolthouse Farms blue cheese dressing
  • 4 tsp Frank's Buffalo wing sauce

Instructions

  • Place a coffee filter in a strainer and then place the strainer in a bowl. Place the plain non-fat yogurt in the coffee filtered lined strainer. Cover it with plastic wrap and refrigerate over night. The whey will drip into the bowl resulting in the yogurt thickening.
  • Next day, put the thickened yogurt into a mixing bowl. Add your favorite blue cheese dressing and wing sauce to the yogurt. I used Bolthouse Farms blue cheese dressing as the points are low and the flavor is excellent. I used Franks wing sauce. Depending on our preference, you can choose a wing sauce that is mild to hot.
  • Mix until the three ingredients are well combined. Taste the dip. Add more wing sauce if you think it's needed.
  • Place the dip into a plastic storage container and refrigerate until ready for use. Note, the dip will thin out after mixing in the blue cheese dressing and wing sauce but it will thicken to a nice dipping consistency with refrigeration.
  • Transfer the dip to a serving bowl when ready to serve and add in a platter of cut raw veggies and various crackers to use as dippers.
  • Refrigerate any leftovers. It will keep for 5-7 days in the refrigerator.

Notes

The points for Bolthouse Farms blue cheese dressing are low and the flavor is excellent in my opinion.

I used Frank's Buffalo wing sauce. Just about any wing sauce can be substituted in and the various sauces vary from mild to hot so you can choose according to your heat preference.

The entire recipe makes 18 tbsp. for a total of 3 pt. One tbsp is 0 pt. A sixth of the recipe or 3 tbsp is 1 pt (0.5 pt in actuality but it rounds up).
